Córdoba
Córdoba, Spain, 2024
This garden was designed to respond to Córdoba’s climate, with mild winters and extremely hot summers, where temperatures can reach 45 °C. The concept is a gravel garden with drought-adapted planting, able to thrive with very little water.
Around the main house, broad-canopied wild olive trees were planted to integrate the building into the landscape, giving the impression that it has always stood among trees. Evergreen shrubs such as mastic are combined with a wide variety of aromatic plants, flowering at different times to provide year-round interest.
The garden is structured in terraces in the traditional Mediterranean way, creating different shaded areas beneath the trees, offering cooler spaces even in the height of summer.
